12-hour Package
For a 'first timer' of 1-1 Development, this is one of the most popular options, as it is time-specific, allows you to try it and see what can be gained, and is within the budgets of most organisations.
It follows three steps:
- Scoping Session 2 hours
Allows the two people to meet and find out if they want to work together and, if so, builds a clear contract based on the needs of the individual.
- Executive Development 10 hours
Works to the agreed contract and the time is structured in a way to meet individual needs.
- Evaluation and Review conversation
Time to review the work, with an option for renewing the initial contract and committing to subsequent 12-hour packages.
This approach is also attractive to those organisations looking for senior team development. In our experience, offering a 1-1 Development package to all senior directors significantly increases the potential for wider change and development, especially when integrated with an organisational development process.
Customised
For those who already recognise the benefits of 1-1 Development and are familiar with this approach, we offer a customised response to meet your short-term or longer-term requirements.
For example, we can provide continued access to the 1-1 Developer for a fixed monthly fee. The benefit of this option is that your 1-1 Developer will devote as much time to you as you require over a fixed term, working with you on key issues and/or dealing with situations as and when they arise.
It offers you maximum flexibility, as they can be accessible to you day, evening or even weekends where necessary, for face-to-face, telephone or email consultation.
The specific contract agreed therefore varies from person to person but could include, for instance 'alongside support' to newly-appointed CEOs and senior directors, for a four or six-month period.
The individual has the peace of mind that, in addition to any pre-arranged sessions with their 1-1 Developer, they can contact them whenever needed during this period. Meanwhile for the commissioning organisation, it offers a transparent, fixed-fee contract.
Specialist Focus
Sometimes what individuals are seeking is the opportunity to deepen their awareness or practice in a specific field or specialism. In matching clients with their 1-1 Developer we carefully consider any such requirements.
This specialist service might be the focus of the entire 1-1 work or it may represent a single session with a specialist Developer integrated within the development process. Oasis offers 1-1 Executive Developers who bring specialist expertise including:

Intensive
This option offers the senior executive time away from the pressures of the work setting, in the form of a personal retreat. By mutual agreement, the 1-1 Executive Developer customises a 1.5 day process to meet individual priorities, preferences and objectives.
The work can encompass a range of possible options, including for example:
- Pre-questionnaires to inform self-awareness and assist in clarifying personal objectives.
- Identifying the individual's context - offering a deeper exploration of their personal and career biography; highlighting individual patterns that influence and shape behaviours; and mapping their organisational context.
- Specific focus on those areas highlighted as critical to success.
- Supported individual reflection time.
- Developing principles for action and translating questions into effective practice at the individual and team level.
The benefit of this intensive option is that it offers uninterrupted thinking time, enabling the individual to clear away some of the 'noise' of their everyday routine. Because the retreat is entirely personalised, it offers a unique opportunity to work at depth on the issue or issues concerned. The 1-1 Developer supports the individual prior to, during and following the retreat, to ensure they take maximum benefit from the experience.
1-1 Executive Development: Our Services
Andrew is a director within a Local Authority. He was newly appointed to the post and had lead responsibility for a range of key initiatives. He had inherited a number of challenging people in his department who were reluctant to embrace further change and different approaches.
It was important to work with someone who was free of the politics of the Authority and who could bring a different perspective.
He worked with a 1-1 Developer who helped him apply alternative strategies that were not simply imposed on those individuals he saw as resistant.
As a result, he developed a more significant, productive and visible contribution to the meetings he led and participated-in.

With each client we agree in advance which of the following four options would be best suited to their requirements.
We have clear fee guidelines for our services which depend on your specific requirements and the sector you operate in. As part of our 'sharing the learning' approach we offer discounted rates for members of acevo, for example, and for some smaller Public Purpose Organisations that want to work with more of a Whole Person approach or that are looking for collaborative development.

Knowing when to stop
All the development we offer at Oasis is geared towards maximising the autonomy of the individual. Our aim is not to foster dependency but to allow a person to develop more of who they need to be to fulfil the role and the life they have chosen to lead. For this reason, whilst the 1-1 process may evolve over a period of months, or may at times involve frequent contact depending on requirements, it is essential to know when enough has been done. Time away from the process, for reflection and review, is therefore vital.
For clients undertaking a longer-term development process we strongly recommend a two-month 'review break' after eighteen months of regular sessions, to allow both people to stand back and reflect, and then decide to either re-contract with the same person, start with someone else, or bring the 1-1 Development relationship to a close. This may also include reflection with the commissioning organisation as needed, in light of broader organisational developments, for example.
